Technician Lead - Hydro Excavation

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
Contributes as an experienced team member in the operation of large, heavy equipment such as Caterpillar style bulldozers, scrapers, and excavators as well as dump trucks and other equipment in support of power generation operations
Explains operational processes, provides technical guidance, and assists team members with safe operations of large, heavy equipment and other operational tasks
Minimize operational disruption by evaluating and ensuring preventative maintenance and repair of equipment. Record equipment mileage and hours
Train team members in safety procedures; lead safety topics in tailgate meetings; and identify and stop potentially unsafe work practices.
Assist with coordination of team member work and record crew time and cost information
Provide support to other generation engineering and support teams as needed
Provide input to budget estimates
Other duties as assigned
Skills, Knowledge, Qualities:
Excellent knowledge of excavation equipment operation, safety and maintenance
Ability to read, interpret and carry out complex written and oral instructions
Highly motivated with willingness to work extended hours when necessary
Ability to communicate, influence, teach, and build consensus
Upon selection, must complete required training and qualification program
Education, Training, Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Completion of a two-year course of study at a recognized trade, technical or vocational school
Minimum of eight years of heavy equipment operation with a preference for generation operations experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred leadership skills
Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:
Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident
May be required to secure NCCER certification on specified equipment
Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:
Physically able to walk uneven surfaces, climb stairs and move rapidly in an industrial environment
Must be able to lift 50 pounds safely and reliably
Shift work and flexibility in work schedule are routinely necessary to handle emergency excavation crew projects and assistance with coal fired plant coaling and train unloading functions
Must be able to perform work outdoors in all types of weather
Wear required PPE, hard hat, FR clothing, steel toe shoes, safety goggles, hearing protection, and fall protection, when required
