We are a blended and blessed family! Together we (Allen and Katie) have three children; Lexie, 12, Morgan, 11 and Cooper, 10. We live on a beautiful ranch in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Almost everyday you will find us outside working and playing. We may be riding horses, practicing roping, gathering eggs, swimming in the pool, playing P-I-G in front of the shop or chasing a mischievous pig back into it's pen! But you can guarantee we will be doing it all together! And the kids will be always be dirty!! (So much for those new school shoes!) Our idea for HomeGrown came after numerous conversations with friends and family about the lack of availability of high quality meats in our rural area in Northeast Oklahoma. We have always provided our own beef to feed our own family but realized the need to provide for other families as well. At the beginning of 2020 we started this adventure, we started to research what was required to be certified all-natural, organic, or grass-fed. After lots of studying and conversations with other producers in the above fields, we realized that we had been doing all of these requirements and more. So we decided to not be certified because we wanted to be able to keep our cost reasonable. So we started by holding back more of our steers that we had raised to start feeding them for butcher. Then we decided to add hogs to our production, then chickens quickly followed! All of our animals are grass-fed and grain finished. They are hormone, steroid, and antibiotic free. They are all hand fed and provided fresh water daily by our family. After the pandemic hit the local processing facilities were overwhelmed. We knew this was an important venture in agriculture but due to the recent disruption in the food industry due to the current pandemic we knew it was more than important but a necessity. Not only was it an issue for consumers, it was a significant issue for producers. We had all these animals that we had worked so hard to raise to the highest standards, now we have no where to have them processed at...so that is where the next adventure started. That is were are next adventure began. Once the idea for the butcher shop started we were excited to provide another outlet for local ranchers and ourselves. We are now open and currently taking appointments for custom processing for beef, pork, deer, sheep and goats. We also have whole, half and quarters available for purchase of our own beef and pork! Thank you for taking the time to follow our story! And we are so thankful for the support that our family, friends and community have shown our family!
