Position Summary:

This position is responsible for the planning, direction, management, and control of all manufacturing operations on the site. It also involves managing and directing all manufacturing functions in accordance with company policies and procedures to continuously improve in the areas of safety, employee morale, profitability, customer satisfaction and quality.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 7-10 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field
  • Proven track record of leading teams and driving results in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong work ethic and leadership abilities, and the determination to strive for constant improvements in the facility’s infrastructure, processing capabilities and personnel.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, possesses the ability to effectively correspond across all levels of the organization.

Prefered:

  • The successful candidate will have a chemical or engineering degree (chemical engineering preferred).
  • In addition, the candidate must be familiar with the ISO9001:2000 quality management system, ISO14000, process automation, managing union relationships, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with Lean Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies

Major areas of Accountability:

  • Manage activities at the plant site including production, maintenance, engineering quality control, safety, transportation, engineering, and environmental activities.
  • Maintain high levels of communication with the workforce regarding the status of the business and key operational plans and/or initiatives.
  • Maximize efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction and efficiency improvements to optimize plant profitability.
  • Ensures effective individual performance and career development plans are completed.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including OSHA, ISO, EPA, air, water, waste management regulations, and other applicable environmental requirements.
  • Monitor various reports to ensure achievements of financial, safety and quality goals.
  • Implement strategies for continuous improvement in the various manufacturing areas.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the staff working to foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning among team members.
  • Drive the overall business culture of balancing the drive for results with the drive for employee morale.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations providing coaching and training as needed to develop employees' skills and capabilities.
  • Develop and manage annual operating budgets for the plant, including expenses for labor, materials, and maintenance.
  • Monitor financial performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve financial targets.
