Wyndham Grand is now seeking a General Manager to join our team at Sam Lord's Castle Wyndham Grand Resort in Barbados, Belair.
Job summary
The Hotel Manager is responsible for continually focusing on achieving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, guest satisfaction and developing employees, while maintaining the integrity of the hotel.
Principal tasks & responsabilities
Lead and coordinate all areas / hotel sectors to achieve expected performance. Ensure the best customer experience while delivering the required EBITDA.
Lead and inspire EXCO members and the rest of the hotel staff through specific management actions, training, and staff recognition. Lead by Example and promote Teamwork. Maximum Leader of Wyndham’s Count on Me Culture.
Collect and analyze information, prepare Income Statements and Forecasts in order to make decisions related to increasing hotel Rev Par and profitability. On a monthly basis, forecast the hotel financial
position by estimating revenues and line-by-line expenses. Analyze previous and projected data to generate an accurate Reforecast. Supervise and control hotel billing to ensure compliance with the annual budget.
Ensure the cleanliness, maintenance, safety of the physical property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs with the Housekeeping Supervisor and Engineering Supervisor.
Monitor guest reviews in order to improve the online reputation and hotel services. Promote and implement an environmental conscious culture.
Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts to include meeting clients, contacts, and potential clients. Tour the operating departments, daily making adjustments as needed via department heads. And conduct or assist in weekly staff meetings, including the review of previous and future sales and operations efforts.
Assist in creating a positive team-oriented / guest focused environment through employee training & development, communication and motivation. Empower, coach and counsel the management team according to Wyndham’s S.O.P.s and ensure that managers comply with standards of performance.
Education & experience
- At least 6 years progressive experience as a General Manager in an all-inclusive hotel in the Caribbean
- Preferably be a citizen or resident of one of the member countries of the Caribbean
- Community (CARICOM)
- Bachelor Degree in Tourism and Hospitality / Business Administration
- Leadership skills
- Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying
- and solving problems as necessary
- Background in the sales area
- Management of the Office package
- Advanced level of English language
- Intermediate level of Spanish Language (desirable)
- Management of PMS (Opera)
